upsell vs. steal
my job has now become intolerable. I’m actually writing this while at work, in between tedious filing, cashing out customers, answering the occasional (rare) phone call. daily ruminations on how best to dispose of a certain individual plague all of us in the office. it’s like this evil overlord has swooped in to make us all miserable yet he has no “real” authority while being a complete despot. he cannot be overthrown. is this how Cubans feel? except apparently they actually get healthcare. I’m working for peanuts and don’t even have insurance. awesome. so I am on a hopeless and unfortunately fruitless search for another job—ANY job. none doing so far. dammit. I am waiting until the clock strikes 11 am so I can order chinese food to make it through the rest of the day. it will not be pleasant nor even remotely amusing. once upon a time six days a week was annoying but in the end I loved my job, going to work, being hit on constantly. I loved the attention. now it’s all I can do to get out of bed in the morning knowing that my commute is pointless, I’ll sit around waiting on tenterhooks for them to try to badmouth me (whilst I never had a single complaint from any manager or coworker in sales or service) because SOMEONE is a complete and utter imbecile. it’s official: THE PATIENTS HAVE TAKEN OVER THE ASYLUM. or rather, just one crazy, but he’s the one to top them all. you have never met someone quite like him so consider yourself truly blessed. to summarize—he would sell his kid for the right price. no doubt. so what I want to know is: when does “upselling” become “stealing”?
